Stretch Yourself - Stretch in Schools

Why not try “STRETCH YOURSELF”?

A week of fun, energising and educational drama exercises that can deliver the curriculum whilst allowing the children to express their own thoughts and develop their own piece of theatre which they perform at the end of the week!

So how does the week run?

Each week is tailored to fit each individual school. But our basic outline for the week is to work a single or combined year group each day. All the children work together on the Monday and on Tuesday – Thursday the team work with individual classes in the morning and afternoon. We then re-join as a whole group on a Friday for a dress rehearsal where we supply all costumes, lighting and sound. The show can then be performed in school hours or after school if you wish. Following our time in school we produce a report and DVD evidencing the work done during the project.

How much does this cost?

The standard charge is only £500 for the week (based on working with up to 60 children, larger groups can be accommodated by arrangement). We understand as a charity run organisation ourselves that money is always an issue but there are ways for your school to fund the project for example, asking from donations from the audience or asking for funding from PTA etc.

Which topics do we cover?

We will deliver a 5 day workshop based on any curriculum topic of your choice. Popular choices are; 'Children of World War Two' 'Healthy Living - The Live Long Circus' 'The Great Fire of London' 'Christmas Through the Ages'

Does Stretch offer any other kind of workshops?

YES! As theatre practitioners we can; - devise short workshops based on different aspects of the performing arts - offer assistance with school productions - deliver staff training in drama/singing/movement

Here are some responses from our recent workshops in schools.

'The children’s performance was spectacular'

'It's nice to see all the children getting involved'

‘Every child took part, including those who are normally very shy’

‘There has been so many positive comments from staff and parents’

'It's nice for them to be up and about instead of at their desks all the time'

‘I was amazed that the children managed to learn so much in a short space of time’

‘The week really helped reinforce what we had taught about World War 2’
